Quintessential Fact Sheet
Highlights of a stay at Cristalino Lodge
The ultimate luxury experience
Picture yourself relaxing on a lounger on a floating deck, surrounded by the Amazon rainforest and dividing your attention between the calming sound of the crystal clear Cristalino river waters and the occasional sighting of monkeys, birds and butterflies. The floating deck is one of the highlights of Cristalino Lodge. The 144 m² deck includes loungers and hammocks where you can relax after an invigorating swim in the river, right in the jungle. At night, a bonfire is lit, creating the perfect excuse to spend hours outdoors, admiring the starry sky.
The restaurant offers an authentic experience, and the menu is marked by the use of Amazonian fish, fruit and other local ingredients. The delicacies in the selection prepared by chef Ricardo Cunha include the tambaqui fish ribs on a Brazilian nuts crust and the plantain gnocchi with herbs, as well as desserts such as the banana crumble with chocolate and açaí berry fudge. The bar includes an astounding outdoors deck where you can sip on caipirinhas, local fruit juices, craft beers or South American fine wines while stargazing by the bonfire.
A unique detail
The hotel offers a superb combination of the precepts of sustainable architecture with comfortable, charming facilities. The bath water is heated by solar panels and an air circulation system made from ceiling screens leaves the rooms fresh and cool, without the need for air conditioning. Such details has put Cristalino Lodge among National Geographic Traveler magazine’s top 25 ecolodges in the world.
An unforgettable moment
It is a unique privilege to bird watch from the top of two 50 meters (164 feet) high towers amidst the fantastic biodiversity of this particular spot of Amazon jungle, in the state of Mato Grosso. And all of it is tinted by the golden light of sunrise or sunset. Almost 600 bird species have been cataloged in the region – half of the total of species in the Amazon –, which makes the lodge one of the top birdwatching destinations in South America. The towers, at the level of tree tops, are easily accessible by trails and make it possible to spot species that would be hard to see from the ground level, such as macaws, parakeets, parrots, tanagers and cotingas.
