Quintessential Fact Sheet
Highlights of a stay at Uxua Casa Hotel
The ultimate luxury experience
Guests can choose between four restored traditional fishermen’s houses in the Quadrado, the most charming town square in Brazil, or six houses among a lush garden setting. All the houses were restored or designed by Dutch architect Wilbert Das in collaboration with local artisans using traditional building methods and reclaimed materials.
The hotel offers cooking classes from the comfort of your guest house or the hotel restaurant (simply called “kitchen”), and it is the guests who choose their culinary muse – either local women or the resort’s chef, The seafood hails from local fisherman and the fresh produce from the overhauled garden originally planted by hippies who settled in Trancoso. These informal and fun private classes come with insiders’ takes on both the cuisine and culture of the region.
A unique detail
Uxua’s lake-like pool is made of 45,000 green aventurine quartz stones that are said – by those who believe in the power of crystals – to have the greatest healing powers of any gem.
An unforgettable moment
A martial art that combines music and dance, capoeira is one of the truest expressions of Bahian identity. You can take capoeira classes at the hotel or even enjoy a free class with Trancoso locals at the academy sponsored by Uxua.
